Sun City Son
Louis Miller's Tractors
Mel's Bowling Alley

At the Sun City Car Show, Gerald Walker is a happy
“Model A Ford” winner of the Best of Class Award 2017.

The Award

At least nine cars found Louis Miller's house.

Gary Brown, Max Phillips, Al Bohn and J R listened to Louis's neverending stories.

Louis is 93, uses a walker, and remembers everything. He was a member of our club for awhile.
When he was 20, he borrowed 20 dollars from his bank to get married. His father-in-law threatened to anul the marriage,
but she said she would just marry Louis again. She was an 18-year old twin, they had twins, and one of them had twins.
His wife worked for Gold's for many years until Harry Gold died.
He only finished the 7th grade, but he had the highest score in a mechanical test when he went into the service.
He told a story about his dead car. His wife said it was the battery, but he insisted it was the generator.
When she was proven right, she didn't say, "I told you so," which contributed to over 70 years of happy marriage.
Once Louis used dry-ice to free up a piston which was a neat technique.
He once drove a race car and has written 3 books.
An owner paid $200,000 to restore a one-cyclinder Fairbanks Morris tractor, and Louis got to drive it in a parade.
Louis commented that he was dreading his going.  Paul Ranney said he should have been a better boy.

Louis has about 150 tractors.
He had a great assortment near his house and more at another location.

These are long range fuel tanks used by B-17s and B-24s to cross the pond.
When empty, they were jettisoned.

Louis told a long story about searching, buying, and trading for parts for his working Bull Tractor.

I'm sure there's a story to go with each one.

We had nine cars on display at Mel's for their veterans' bowling event.

Al & June, Paul & Joy, Laurie & Ashley, Rebecca & Max, Johnnie & Charlie, Jack, Glenn, Boston and J R

Back Row: Al, Max, J R, Glenn, Charlie, Jack, Johnnie, Boston, and Ashley
Front Row: June, Rebecca, Laurie, Paul and Joy

Notice Max's wire to hold the choke open on your first pull to start your car.
Release the wire, and crank to start. After a little training, Felix easily started his car with a crank.
