Alcoa Tour in Rockdale, Texas - April 7, 2001Started off bright and early from Georgetown and headed east out of town to meet up with the Dallas Model A Ford Club and the Brazos Valley Model A Ford Club. Caught up with them in Rockdale where Alcoa wined and dined us (OK, we had coffee and donuts) and the General Manager of the Alcoa Sandow Mine showed us a slide presentation of what goes on in the mine. After that, we all piled into two big, yellow school buses and got the grand tour. The General Manager (or the "dig and dump guy") showed us how big the scoops are (really big) and a close up of "79" - which was built in 1979 - shown below.
