Get your Model A's ready. Larry and Nancy are putting together another Mega Tour.

TOUR ANNOUNCEMENT
Below you will find the description of a possible Model A tour. Without going into detail, accommodations on the trip will run a little over $100/night. Please read the description and get back to me if you are seriously interested in going on this tour. The number of people interested in going will to some degree effect the cost of accommodations and other arrangements that must be made. Indeed if there is too little interest, the trip will not be taken. Send me an e-mail if you are interested, if you have questions I would prefer that you call me rather than use e-mail (512 869 0939). Please note this is a trip for the "As". If you wish to tow to Goliad that is fine, but it will be up to you to find parking for your tow vehicle. I would like to have your replies by May 8th because I have things to do after I know the approximate number of participants. Can you cancel after you indicate an interest? Of course, but I would like to keep the number of cancellations to a minimum. I understand, stuff happens and you must cancel, but please don't be too casual about your decision to participate. Thanks, Larry McCormick.
Proposed Gulf Coast Model A Tour
October 11-16, 2015
Day 1 Sunday Oct 11
The tour will depart IHOP at 8:30 am on Sunday October 11 and drive to Gonzales for lunch at La Bella Tavola, a distance of 106 miles. We will have a planned rest stop at Elgin and other stops as needed. After lunch we will drive 64 miles to Goliad where we will stop at the Best Western Plus Goliad Inn & Suites (361 645 3100) arriving mid to late afternoon. Following happy hour we will drive a short distance to the Hanging Tree Restaurant on the square in Goliad.
Day 2 Monday Oct 12
Breakfast at the motel and ready to roll at 9:00 am. We will drive a couple of miles south on Rt. 183 to the Presidio La Bahia (the fort on the bay) where we will gather for a pre-arranged guided tour of the Fort. Following the guided tour we will make our way back to the square in Goliad. If time permits we will make a stop at the Mission Nuestra Senora Del Espiritu Santo De Zuniga then back to the square where you can get lunch at the Empresario Restaurant or return to the Hanging Tree Restaurant. Both are located on the square. After lunch we will make our way south to the City of Rockport where we will stay for 2 nights at the Lighthouse Inn (361 790 8439) overlooking the bay. Cost of the rooms varies depending on room size and whether you face the bay so if you make reservations be sure to ask a few questions. We will be there on weekday nights so we will get low rates. After getting settled in we will meet for happy hour then off to supper at the nearby Moondog Seaside Eatery.
Day 3 Tuesday Oct 13
Breakfast at the motel then a short drive to the Fulton Mansion Historic Site where we will park our cars in the loop driveway in front for another pre-arranged tour of the Mansion. Please, no modern iron here so we can get a good photo. The Mansion is currently under renovation but our group will be able to tour it in whatever state it is in. We will have lunch overlooking the bay at Charlotte Plummer Seafarer Restaurant located very close to the mansion. After a leisurely lunch we will walk across the parking lot to board the Skimmer for a boat tour ($55/person) on the bay to look for dolphins etc. Then back to the motel for happy hour and off to supper at an as yet to be determined restaurant. Day 4 Wednesday Oct 14 You can sleep in a little this morning or get up and walk along the waterfront because the Maritime Museum does not open until 10:00 am. Don't forget to check out as you leave. At 10 we will be on our way to the Museum and from there to an undetermined lunch location. After lunch there will be a chance to visit the funky shops in downtown Rockport. They are chucky jam full of everything you don't need. After shopping we will board the free ferry to Port Aransas and make our way to the Days Inn (361 749 2324) a couple miles south of Port Aransas. After an abbreviated happy hour we will drive to Virginia's On the Bay for supper then return to our motel.
Day 5 Thursday Oct 15
Breakfast at the motel then starting at 9:00 am, Max and Becky will lead the drive south on the barrier island and through Mustang Island State Park. We will turn west to drive along the JFK Memorial Causeway going over the Intracoastal Waterway and on over to Ocean Drive overlooking Corpus Christi Bay. Our destination is two museums that are within walking distance of each other practically under the Harbor Bridge downtown. One is a Science Museum and the other is a very nice Art Museum. There will probably be time to see most of both museums and eat lunch at the Art Museum. The Restaurant at the Art Museum is not a burger joint. Can you say Panini? After the Museum visit we will return to our Port Aransas motel for happy hour on the beach. Suggest you stick a pair of folding chairs in your stuff. Supper will be had at an as yet undetermined location in Port Aransas.
Day 6 Friday Oct 16
Breakfast over and ready to roll at 8:00 am. We will head home via the same route we came down on. The total distance back is about 240 miles with rest stops taken as needed. The plan is to stop in Cuero for lunch at Rosie's Mexican Restaurant then head home.

P.S. Do not make any motel reservations until I let you know the trip is a go.
